Leatt Crank Taupo - 22/05/10

This was just a one day race, run differently to other races. I reckon it was a good format for a race and the spot prizes were mint as. The format was do as many or as little runs as you wanted, and you had a transponder on your ankle that recorded your time. so every run counted. the 25 fastest men and the 5 fastest women got to do a standard race run at the end. I got the fast womens time. Walked the track in the morning with Carl Edmondson and Brother Ryan Williamson. Wasnt looking forward to riding the end of the track as i thought it would be slow and pedaly as. but it wasnt. it was fun as, a little bit of pedaling, but no where as much as i thought. The whole track was mint as. After 3 runs i decide to have some water, and Paris the leatt dude came over and asked me if my brace restricted my movement at all, and told me i could get a low profile padding kit for it, so said i would look in to it. went up and did another 3 runs then stopped for some food and water again. Paris came over and asked me why i had the back of my neck brace duct taped and i said cos the velco wasnt sticking, so he said he would have to 'pimp' it for me. which he did. He chucked on some black with gold trim low profile padding for free. Its sick as. didnt realise the old padding restricted me that much, noticed the difference straight away, and it looks a whole lot better. Did another couple of runs, track was getting pretty torn up in some places. the jumps just before the road had turned to dust and had ruts everywhere on the take off spitting you in every direction possible. the rest of the track was all good tho. the switch backs half way were quite torn up, but not too bad as long as you stayed high and didnt go to slow.

Won the womens prologue (what they called our runs) and got some sweet wide open handle bars for it. We went up for our race runs, mine was pretty good. wasnt pushing it, but i ended up hitting a stump on the first down up bit, and had to get off and push which sucked real bad. just hit the slippery stuff and turn and slid into the stump. not sure why cos i never hit it during any of my other runs, and i was riding the same. was pretty guttered about the crash, rest of my run was good tho, apart from where you exit the trees and into the farm land and you get sun strike. i pretty much stopped there because i didnt want to risk crashing again. I ended up second behind maddy i think i was 1sec off her
